Dear eBay Seller:
Recently we made a security change to the eBay bidding system. A side
effect of this change was that it disabled autobidding programs such as the
ones that you have sold on the eBay site. The change is one of many
security changes that we plan for the site and part of our goal of ensuring
that eBay is a safe place for online commerce.
We expect to make additional security changes to the bidding system. One of
these planned measures includes the use of secure and regularly changing
algorithms. This change, which we plan to implement next week, is expected
to provide significant security improvements.
As this security enhancement will result in periodic and unpredictable
internal bidding system changes, we expect that it will permanently inhibit
the use of many autobidding programs. As a courtesy to you, we are
notifying you of this expected change.
We regret the impact that this change may have on your business, and we
hope that you understand the importance that we place on ensuring a safe
trading environment for all members of our community.

that work with our system. However, such activity is performed with no
commitment by or protections from eBay. We reserve the right to make
changes to our system. When we know that such changes may impact certain
users, we try to warn them ahead of time, as we have in this case.
